The Religion

Founded by the prophet Zarathushtra in 1800 B.C., the Zarathushti religion was one of the first to declare that religion deals with morality and ethics rather than occultism and magic. It is a monotheistic religion with emphasis on conscious choice to choose the righteous path (or Asha).  Asha is practiced through Humata - good thoughts, Hukta - good words, and Huverashta - good deeds. These form the cornerstone of the religion.

The Zarathushti religion (known in the west as Zoroastrianism) was once the major religion of ancient Persia. Today, Zarathushti followers today number approximately 155,000 throughout the world, with major concentrations in Iran (50,000), India (72,000) and North America (20,000). Zarathushti immigrants to North America have brought with them their faith, culture, customs, language, and literature. Therefore ZAGBA's goal is to help North American Zoroastrians in the New England and Greater Boston Area, especially youth and children, acquire a rich sense of identity and a deep sense of understanding of their religious and cultural background.
